March 20, 2016 the leading Iranian “Mahan Air” airlines opened a new air destination in Ukraine: from Kiev to Asia via Tehran. Made in partnership with the Ukrainian “UM Air” airlines, the new air route opens access to seven popular Asian destinations: Dubai (UAE), Bangkok (Thailand), New Delhi (India), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou (China).
Flights from Kiev to the newly opened Asian destinations via Tehran will greatly reduce the total time of flight compared to other options.
‘Tehran airport is a unique hub, where economy class passengers can get the attention and service of business level’, - said Rodrigue Merhezh, the head of the “UM Air” airlines – ‘the overall frequency of flights to Iran direction from Kiev, including “Mahan Air” and “UM Air”, will make six flights per week’.

Viktor Yushchenko, who attended the opening of the new routing, said that the Ukrainians and Iranians are the two nations that have deep civilizational relationship and that the output of ‘Mahan Air’ on the Ukrainian market would open new opportunities for further communication.
Aliari Mehdi, the First Advisor to the “Mahan Air” General Director, said that “Mahan Air” and “UM Air” had been preparing the first flight for more than a year. ‘The first task for “Mahan Air” on the Ukrainian market is to establish the passenger traffic on the Iran-Ukraine route. The second stage is to ensure a stable flow of transit passengers through Tehran", – he said.

“Mahan Air” is the largest Iranian airline, founded in 1991. “Ukrainian-Mediterranean Airlines" (“UM Air”), established in 1998, continuously flies to Iran's capital since 2002.
