The capital of Ukraine has two botanical gardens, both of them have an interesting history and a vast collection of plants from all over the world. Gryshko National Botanical Garden is located on 1, Tymyryazeva street close to Pecherska metro station and Botanical Garden of the Ukrainian Academy of Science named after Academician Fomin is located at 1, Symona Petlyury street close to Universitet metro station.

The Central Botanical Garden was established in the year 1936. Over the years it has grown into one of the biggest botanical gardens in Eastern Europe. These days its collection includes a spectacular range of approximately 13,000 species which have been brought here from all over the world. Coniferous trees, roses, shrubs, lilacs and magnolias fill the garden with color and fragrance; it is almost like walking into a space that is far removed from the world. The grounds are scattered with greenhouses and hothouses, each containing their own plant and flower extravaganza and just waiting to be explored.
