Within an hour and a half drive in 90 km from Kyiv along the Zhytomyr highway there is the medieval Radomysl castle with unique museum of Ukrainian home icon and the only old paper mill in the country.

This interesting architectural complex has a historical location: in the Middle Ages there was the famous "Kings’ Road" – Via Regia. The ancient trade and political path began in Santiago de Compostela and ran through eight European countries right up to Kyiv. It stretched through Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland, Lithuania, Belarus and ended in Ukraine, uniting Western and Eastern Europe. From the end of the 10th and up to the first half of the 15th century it was a kind of corridor for spreading new ideas, knowledge, laws and regulations that played a great civilizational role.

Radomysl Castle was the first place in Ukraine included in the Via Regia tourist route by the Council of Europe. The experts, architects and designers from around the world participated in reconstruction of the historical and cultural complex.
The heart of the castle exposition is the collection of home icons, which has been gathered for many years by Olga Bogomolets, the owner of the complex, a well-known Ukrainian scientist and public person. The museum of Christian relics was named "The Soul of Ukraine". "More than five thousand exhibits were brought from different flea markets": I have been buying them for years, and then restored and cured them," Olga says. "I recreated this castle museum for the revival of spirit, strength, dignity, pride of our people."

There is a "papyrnya", built in 1622 on the territory of the complex. This is the first factory in the central Ukraine for the production of paper, which worked for the printing house of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. By the way, the first book “Chasoslov” ("The Hours") was published in Radomyshl. Today they managed to restore the ancient process of making paper completely, and the visitors of the castle can master it during a special master class.

Radomysl Castle Museum is a popular place for holding international cultural, historical, architectural conferences, trainings and seminars. Olga Bogomolets admits: "I want to believe that it will unite people who love history and culture. After all, one of the main missions of the castle is to show the whole world what Ukraine really is, what it can and should be."
