In 2016, Ray self-released her debut mini-album Durt, featuring collaborations with Stormzy, Wretch 32 and SG Lewis.

She recently topped the BBC Sound of 2017 list – the BBC’s annual poll of music critics and industry reps designed to identify the most promising new artists. In previous years, 50 Cent, Adele, Michael Kiwanuka, Sam Smith, Years&Years and Jack Garrett have all been awarded the same accolade. BLK, her stage surname, stands for Building Living Knowing, which she describes as her three main values.
