Ballerina in Swan Lake

This November is the high time for opera and ballet fans to check the repertoire and dedicate some evenings to the aesthetic satisfaction. Mozart, Wagner, Puccini, Stravinsky and Verdi are one of many names on the list.

Freedom Ballet

Freedom Ballet is exactly what it says in the name - freedom of movement, experiment and thought. Olha Kolidaneko's ballet company presents a new performance called Shafa ("Closet"), where 14 dancers wear different 'masks', merging the borders of reality, and change their essence in swift waves.

The truth behind the mask: ballet

The truth behind the mask is one of the loud premiers at Lviv Opera House this autumn. The performance will feature two iconic ballets by Igor Stravinsky: Pulcinella, portraying the traditional Neapolitan comedy character Pulcinella, and The Rite of Spring, inspired by nature and folk music.

Tenors Bel’Canto

In 2018, Tenors Bel’Canto quartet celebrates the 10th anniversary. The festive occasion will be marked with a grand concert, where four tenors will perform the best pieces from opera arias to romances written by Ukrainian composers. The quartet will be accompanied by Lviv Philharmonic House Orchestra led by the famous conductor Andriy Yurkevych, a former Music Director of the National Theatre in Odessa and as General Music Conductor at the National Opera and Ballet Theatre of Republic of Moldova in Chisinau.

Exegi Monumentum: Nietzsche & Hegel

Another anniversary that Lviv celebrates this November is 175 years since the foundation of Lviv Musical Conservatory. The festive concert explores yet another historical date - 150 years since the meeting of two great historical personas of the 19th century, Friedrich Nietzsche and Georg Hegel. The program will feature piano pieces accompanied by Nietzsche's texts, as well as pieces from operas by Richard Wagner, namely Tannhäuser and Lohengrin.

XVII International Opera Art Fest

All lovers of the opera art are welcome to visit the grandiose opera festival in Lviv that will last for six days. The guests will hear such masterpieces as “Madama Butterfly” by Giacomo Puccini, “Nabucco” and “Don Carlos” by Giuseppe Verdi, “The Servant Turned Mistress” by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi and many other outstanding performances.

Jonathan Powell

The British self-taught composer and pianist Jonathan Powell debuted at 20 years old and ever since practiced his musical skills. The musician is a great fan of Romanticism and is especially keen in discovering forgotten names in the musical history. Besides, Jonathan Powell specializes in Bach, whose music will be in the focus this November. 24 Preludes and Fugues by Dmitri Shostakovich, inspired by Bach and his monumental work, will be performed.

Don Giovanni

The world-famous opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart premiered this summer in Lviv to return in the new theatrical season. The Italian-language masterpiece tells the story of Don Juan, the iconic seducer and a strong personality that defied the morals of his time.
