The Drinkery Bar in Kyiv

The Drinkery concept bar was opened only in mid-January but it had already found its place in the hearts of Kyiv dwellers — location in downtown, relaxed atmosphere and nice prices easily make it a perfect place to chill out with friends. Let's see what makes The Drinkery a unique bar among the others.

The Drinkery was founded by three Kyiv locals, inspired by the bar culture of the neighbouring European countries like Poland and the Czech Republic. The key principles of the bar are openness and simplicity which serve as a contrast to elitism so common in Ukrainian fine dining culture. Simplicity, among other things, is obvious here due to the absence of waiters — all drinks and beverages are ordered at the western-style bar. Location of the place, some 200 meters from Maidan, allows enjoying sightseeing and shopping before crashing at the cozy cushioned couches in The Drinkery.
Space in the bar is divided into three halls: room with a bar counter and high seating places, a bar room with several bar counters, and a lounge room. Each of the rooms is quite capacious, making up 104 places in total and plenty room at the buffet table.
Now, the true quirk of the place is price policy: all alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks (except for elite imported alcohol), including shots, are priced UAH 30, while all dishes cost UAH 50 each. Despite the simplicity of the menu, the variety of choice is wide enough.
There are several types of snacks, starters and main dishes. To give an idea, The Drinkery offers a traditional Polish tartare made from veal and Polish soup żurek, which is prepared on rye leaven. Besides, the menu has various deep-fried dishes: corn, hamsa fries, as well as champignons and dumplings. Owners plan to add new positions gradually, at the same time keeping the price unchanged.

Drinks are represented by non-alcoholic items, such as coffee, and a wide range of alcoholic beverages. There are several types of beer, wine, mulled wine, strong drinks and about 10 kinds of shots. Speciality of the place are fruit vodkas, known for their sweet smell and taste. Besides, here guests can try traditional Polish nalyvkas to compare them with Ukrainian nalyvka traditions.
