If you are a regular user of Instagram and Facebook living in Kyiv, you have probably already heard of Vietnamskyy Privet. This is a Vietnamese street food joint located in the premises of Besarabskyy market in Kyiv downtown. It instantly earned a certain amount of social media hype around itself, with many bloggers and social media personalities posting numerous photos of food and quirky interior. The restaurant’s owner is popular in Kyiv restaurateur Mykhaylo Katsurin, known for such successul restaurant projects as Atlas and Barbara Bar. The interior of Vietnamskyy Privet was created by Ukrainian well established architect Slava Balbek.

Judging by the amount of Vietnamese cuisine restaurants that have popped up in Kyiv lately, proper, soul-warming Vietnamese food will be the next big thing for the street food scene of the Ukrainian capital.
Vietnamskyy Privet menu offers traditional Vietnamese pho soups with chicken, veal or mushroom/tofu. Pho soups, the signature dish of this place, are served with lime and sauce. Other traditional Vietnamese dishes on the menu include tofu spring rolls, shrimp spring rolls, Chả giò, also known as Nem rán, which are deep fried rice paper rolls stuffed with minced pork or shrimp. Guests can also order a product of Vietnam’s colonial past, the banh mi sandwiches. The beloved concoction combines a crunchy French baguette with pork, pate and an ever-changing array of fresh vegetables.
