Vyshyvanka fest in Odesa is a patriotic event dedicated to the 27th anniversary of Independence of Ukraine and the Day of Flag. This fest, uniting many merry people wearing national clothes, will be held in sunny Odesa for the 9th time. The guests of the festival will experience the atmosphere of a real Ukrainian holiday. The program includes national souvenirs fair, festive parade, human chain of people in vyshyvsnkas holding each other`s hands, hoist of a large Ukrainian flag over the famous Potemkin stairs, cars parade, national clothes fashion show, Cossack`s games, movies and many other interesting activities for grown-ups and kids.

Adam Gontier started his career as a frontman of legendary Canadian rock band Three Days Grace in 1992. The band quickly gained world-wide popularity with their catchy hits – “Never Too Late”, “I Hate Everything About You”, “Pain” and other. Three Days Grace headed by Adam released 5 albums, received many premiums and awards and was assigned the status of one of the leading alternative rock bands. Suddenly Adam left the band on the peak of its fame. Lucky for his fans, he came back in two years with his new project called Saint Asonia. On Adam Gontier`s show in Odesa, the audience will hear the famous hits of Three Days Grace and Saint Asonia as well as some new melodies written by Canadian rock star.

Before (or even after) Adam`s rock show, you can experience one of the loveliest things to do in Odesa: watching sunset or sunrise on the Black Sea shore. However, you can also do it in any other warm day of August. Just take a friend, a jacket, a mat, a bottle of good wine or a thermos with hot tea and go straight to one of the best Odesa beaches: Arcadia, Lanzheron, Golden Shore, Otrada or the other one you prefer. Relaxing sound of waves, refreshing salt air and dreamy mood will make the beginning or the end of your day unforgettable.

Come to Dumska square, Grecheska square or Primorsky boulevard, and you will hear famous Odesa songs along with hits of Ukrainian and foreign artists played by talented local musicians. Apart from young people with guitars, you also have a chance to see such authentic Odesa personalities as a musician with old Ukrainian instrument called bandura and even an eccentric old man playing his music with help of bottles and steel bars!

Hear Soul-Lifting Sound of Organ

In Sunday evening of August 19, all lovers of heart-touching melodies are welcome to spend few hours in an amazing world of high art. Brilliant organ player Ekaterina Ogarkova from Rivne will present her concert called “Organ and Velvet August”. Ekaterina performed on many tours in Ukraine and abroad; she worked with the most famous conductors and musicians from Ukraine, South Korea, Italy, Czech Republic, Russia. She regularly surprises her listeners with excellent solo programs and unique combinations of classic and modern. The repertoire of Ekaterina Ogarkova consists of compositions written by immortal geniuses such as Johann Bach, Giovanni Pergolesi, Johannes Brahms, Jakob Ludwig Felix Mendelssohn and many other.

Walk Through Old City Yards

Of course, after listening to the magic organ, your soul will desire to feel something special and atmospheric. Try walking through old Odesa yards – the wise people say that the true spirit of the city hides right there. Going along the central streets (for example, Deribasivska and Ekaterininska), often turning into the arches of buildings to visit small cozy yards – it surely sounds like a nice adventure. Here you will see fluffy cats (take some tasty treats for them!), old cars, wooden benches and of course will meet some locals who can tell you interesting and funny stories about Odesa and its history.
Spending the last August weeks in wonderful Odesa is the perfect way to end this summer. Enjoy the hot days until the golden autumn comes!
